A place of exceptional beauty & significance that resonates with positive energy

The Abbey has a rich history filled with generous hospitality, deep personal & spiritual journey, awareness & preservation of the native environment.

Over 50 years ago, five acres of land on Raymond Island was entrusted to the Anglican Diocese of Gippsland by Beatrice A’Beckett as a campsite for girls and was dubbed A’Beckett Park.

A’Beckett Park, now known as The Abbey, has hosted many conferences, training events, camps and events over the years.

Its recent re-focus as a Centre for Spirituality and the Environment ensures The Abbey continues to meet the changing needs of its many communities.

We invite you to explore The Abbey, to stay in The Units or The Cottage, book the Conference and Accommodation Centre for your planning day or wedding reception, participate in The Abbey Program, become a Friend of the Abbey or join us as a Volunteer.

The Abbey Vision

The Abbey is a Centre for Spirituality and the Environment; a place of hospitality, pilgrimage, reflection, healing, learning and recreation.

Guided by purpose

A place of hospitality, surrounded by the natural environment; open and alive to the inspiration of the spirit. The Abbey provides space, with signposts and pathways that lead towards the fullness of human life.

Welcoming guests from all corners

In line with the new vision, The Abbey is committed to a master plan that involves a number of significant and contemporary upgrades to the site.

Eight new motel units have been built, and in early 2017 the first stage of the A-Frame Building upgrade will commence.

When the upgrade is complete, The Abbey’s Conference and Accommodation Centre will comprise 40 accommodation units, a significant upgrade to the distinctive A-Frame building, as well as modernised kitchen and ablution facilities. The current shared dining and conference facilities will also be updated.

These upgrades will ensure The Abbey appeals to church and community groups, as well as to the commercial and private markets of tourism and small business, local and state government, education, corporate and general holidaymakers.

With our environment intact

With considered intention, The Abbey strives to make as little environmental impact as possible.

This will be achieved through implementing solar power, insulation for all the main buildings and employing sustainable and environmental design principles for all upgrade projects.

Conscious spiritual leadership

The Abbey is an initiative of The Anglican Diocese of Gippsland – an expression of its commitment to care for the environment and recognition of the important connection between environment, spirituality and personal wellbeing.
